How to Create a Public External Share Link (Anyone with the Link)

Updated today

Introduction

Public External Share lets you create a view-only link that does not require authentication. It expires automatically after a fixed duration.

Steps

  1. Open a document version or Working Copy.

  2. Open External Share settings via Share > External Share.

  3. Select Anyone with the link.

  4. Choose an expiry duration (required):

    • 1 day, 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, or 3 months

  5. Click Create and Share, then copy the link.

Notes / Tips

  • Public links are view-only (no comments, tasks, anchors).

  • You can’t edit the expiry after creation.

  • You can’t generate a new link until the existing one expires.

  • Burai shows time remaining (e.g., “6 days remaining”), not a timezone-based timestamp.

Summary / Next Steps

If a public link expires, open the External Share flow again to generate a new link with a new expiry.
